Our Work

Our club is part of a national network of clubs called "Fitness, Fun, and Philanthropy." This affiliation inspires us to harness the power of our running club to give back to those in need.

March 2023: Joe Andruzzi Foundation Fundraiser

On March 29, the Ravenous Runners hosted the Joe Andruzzi Foundation at Ravenous Brewing in Cumberland for the "Hop Over" fundraising event. The foundation provides hope, smiles and financial support to patients and families of those undergoing treatment for cancer.

April 2023:

Yellow Bag Trash Cleanup Day

On April 1st, the Ravenous Runners participated in the annual Yellow Bag Trash Pickup Day in Cumberland. This event is sponsored by the Valley Breeze. The team picked up many bags of roadside litter from Pine Swamp Road in northern Cumberland. 

Thank you note from Dorcas International to Ravenous Runners for donating items to Ukrainian refugees in March 2023.

March 2023:

Dorcas International

For the second year in a row, under the guidance of club member Rosemary Gately, the club collected needed items for Dorcas InternationalThese items were needed to assist in the resettlement of Ukrainian refugees in Rhode Island. 

Dorcas International is the only Rhode Island agency authorized by the U.S. Department of State to resettle refugees in the United States.

March 2022:

Dorcas International

Dorcas International is the only Rhode Island agency authorized by the U.S. Department of State to resettle refugees in the United States. For the month of March, The Ravenous Runners, under the guidance of club member Rosemary Gately, collected needed items to assist in the resettlement of Afghan refugees in Rhode Island. Rosemary's dedication to this project resulted in the donation of over 25 carts of household goods and clothing.

Winter/Spring 2020/21

Northern RI Food Pantry

The Ravenous Runners had an internal competition to collect food for the Northern RI Food Pantry. Club members were separated into 2 competing teams to see who could collect the most food donations. As a result, over 600 lbs of food were collected and donated to the NRI Food Pantry. 

On-going:

Sneakers for Good

The Ravenous Runners have collected and distributed over 300 lbs. of used athletic shoes to Sneakers for Good. Those shoes are then used to facilitate micro-enterprise in underserved communities as well as provide footwear to those in need.
