Our club is part of a national network of clubs called "Fitness, Fun, and Philanthropy." This affiliation inspires us to harness the power of our running club to give back to those in need.
For the second year in a row, under the guidance of club member Rosemary Gately, the club collected needed items for Dorcas International. These items were needed to assist in the resettlement of Ukrainian refugees in Rhode Island.
Dorcas International is the only Rhode Island agency authorized by the U.S. Department of State to resettle refugees in the United States.
Dorcas International is the only Rhode Island agency authorized by the U.S. Department of State to resettle refugees in the United States. For the month of March, The Ravenous Runners, under the guidance of club member Rosemary Gately, collected needed items to assist in the resettlement of Afghan refugees in Rhode Island. Rosemary's dedication to this project resulted in the donation of over 25 carts of household goods and clothing.
The Ravenous Runners harnessed the power of their numbers to do good in the community when they stepped up to resurrect the Franklin Farm 5K. They strategically involved the NRI Food Pantry in that effort and raised over $20K to mutually benefit the NRI Food Pantry and The Franklin Farm.
Northern RI Food Pantry
The Ravenous Runners had an internal competition to collect food for the Northern RI Food Pantry. Club members were separated into 2 competing teams to see who could collect the most food donations. As a result, over 600 lbs of food were collected and donated to the NRI Food Pantry.
Sneakers for Good
The Ravenous Runners have collected and distributed over 300 lbs. of used athletic shoes to Sneakers for Good. Those shoes are then used to facilitate micro-enterprise in underserved communities as well as provide footwear to those in need.
